First, A Note From Our Instructor:  Hi, my name is George Lloyd, owner of Middle Tennessee Taekwondo, in Smithville, TN and I want to take a moment to welcome you to our website and to say THANK YOU for considering Martial Arts for your child. I've taught kids martial arts classes for years and as you can imagine, I've seen every kind of personality you can think of in a child. Rambunctious, shy, defiant, complacent...every child is different, with special gifts to give and challenges to overcome, and I've seen Martial Arts classes help every single one of them find their inner strength, peace, and focus.

We've seen ultra-shy kids burst out of their shell, ADD and ADHD kids learn how to control themselves, socially awkward kids learn how to make and keep friends, and even helped special needs children find a place to fit in and feel accepted. So, what I'll do on this page is tell you a little about what our focus is in our classes, and what methods we use to achieve our results. Take a look at what we do, and see if our philosophy on the Martial Arts mat lines up with your goals as a parent, and if what we teach would be beneficial in your child's life. Again, THANK YOU for considering Martial Arts - it was literally the BEST thing that ever happened to me when I was young, and I think it's possible that it could be the same for your child.

Give us a call today to see what we can do for you!

No Contracts!!!!!

Intro Classes:
In order to get you started on the right foot, we have a beginners program that will slow things down as you learn some of the basic techniques. This program is designed for children and teens.  New adults may take this program or start right into the adult program.

Youth & Teen Classes:
TaeKwonDo classes help build confidence, integrity, and self-defense while in a safe fun filled environment! Learning becomes fun as students are taught in a “Step By Step” program that makes learning easy. As students progress in training time, they are given the opportunity to test for new belt ranks and climb the ladder of success to Black Belt.

Little Tiger Classes:
Geared for ages 4-6.  This program is designed to break down the learning steps of traditional TaeKwonDo and offer a fun, energy filled class for little ones.  The Little Tiger's program will also provide life skills such as concentration, respect, discipline, coordination and exercise to prepare for a bright future!

Adult Classes:
Combined with the TaeKwonDo program, the adult class provides stress relief, stretching, and conditioning. Adults have the option of participating in the youth/teen class with your children or the adult only class.  No other sport provides the chance for the whole family to be involved in one sport. Come let your family be a part of our family!

Fitness Class:
Our Fitness Classes will be coming soon.

Things You Should Know Before Choosing A Martial Arts School

* Not all schools are the same. Take time to research the school to find the style that fits your needs.

* Avoid schools that place students on contracts. What if your child loses interest in 3 months?

* Higher tuition does not mean better quality. Find programs that offer good quality for a great price.

* Be sure the facility is clean and odor free. The spreading of germs is the leading cause of illness.

* Check the school for ample workout space and the ratio of instructors to students per class.

* Does the school have certified adult instructors? Teens are great to assist, but adults should teach.

* Talk with the parents or students of the school. Are they happy with the program and staff?

* Any school should allow you to watch classes or participate in activities with your child.

* Get bottom line prices. Watch out for hidden fees or outrageous prices for testing or equipment.

* Ask for the teaching credentials from the school instructors. Is the instructor nationally certified?

* Are there extra programs that you or your child can participate in for extra help?

* Does the school background check its staff? What safety measures does the school take?

* What can the school offer you after receiving your black belt? Are there any black belt programs?

* Does the school allow you to keep your existing rank if you are transferring from another school?

* Don’t fall for high-pressure sales to get your money. Take time to make a sound decision.

In closing, use your best judgment when choosing a school. Spend several hours or days at a school before making a choice. Watch several classes and get to know the instructional and management staff before signing the paperwork. Take a few intro classes to sample the program. Watch to see if the advance students are receiving quality instruction since that will be you in the future. Some schools will give the best instruction to the new students to get a contract signed. Once you sign, you’re pushed aside for the next new student. Don’t be a number; be a part of a quality “Family Friendly” school.

Middle Tennessee Taekwondo would like to bring the art and science of Taekwondo to every person.

Taekwondo gives strength to the weak and confidence to the timid.

Better body, better mind, better person, and we make you an exceptional person.

We take a personal interest in each and every one of our students.  Our school is in the "People Building Business".  This institute is actually a "Family Oriented Self-Improvement Center".

Middle Tennessee Tae Kwon Do opened August 2013 in Smithville Tennessee.  Our Associate Master Instructor, George Lloyd,  has been practicing martial arts for over 30 years.

Tae Kwon Do is an excellent opportunity for families to get out of the house and participate in a constructive, fun-filled activity.  Our classes are structured in an environment suited for the entire family.
